Incident summary – Monday 10th August. Night Shift
17:00 Royal Albert Drive, Scarborough
Crews from Scarborough proceeded to investigate a report of smoke issuing from near the skate park. On arrival crew discovered this was a disposable BBQ on hard standing. No risk posed to surrounding area. Crews gave advice.
17:10 Flaxley Road, Selby
Selby crews attended a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a delivery van. Van had flipped over and the driver was out of vehicle on arrival of crews. Driver was treated by paramedics at the scene for a minor head injury. Crews made vehicle safe and assisted with first aid.
17:29 Field near Warlaby cross roads, Northallerton
Northallerton crews responded to investigate a report of smoke sighted in a field. This was confirmed to be a controlled burn not supervised. Due to dry conditions crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.
17:58 Brecks Lane, Strensall, York
Huntington crews were mobilised to investigate a smell of smoke in area. After investigation crew confirmed this was a small bonfire under good supervision. No action required.
18:36 A59 Kexgill
Harrogate crews responded to several reports of a car well alight on the road. Fire affected engine compartment and damaged the front half of the vehicle. Crews used hose reels and breathing apparatus. The cause of fire is believed to be electrical.
18:57 Westway, Eastfield, Scarborough
Crew from Scarborough responded to some bushes believed to have been set alight deliberately. Crew used buckets of water and Police were informed.
19:34 Hovingham Drive, Scarborough
Reports of a fire in a domestic garden were received and Scarborough crews were mobilised to investigate. This was the occupant burning tree roots in garden to get rid of them. Crews advised occupier to extinguish and they did with buckets of water.
20:15 Goodramgate York
York crews assisted a business with flooding into the shop caused by faulty drainage from flat above. Crew isolated leak and water supply and gave advice to the tenants.
20:25 Seavegate, East Ayton, Scarborough
Crew from Scarborough responded to investigate a small camp fire close to woodland. Crew extinguished the fire using buckets of water due to proximity to woodland.
20:35 Newton on Rawcliffe
Pickering crew were mobilised to investigate a report of a campfire in open moorland. On arrival of Fire Service the fire had just been extinguished. Crews gave advice.
20:45 Linton
A small fire was sighted from a campsite, Grassington crews responded and confirmed this was a controlled burn under good supervision with no risk of fire spread.
21:59 Bondgate, Ripon
Ambulance service requested assistance of Ripon crews to carry out extrication of a casualty from a property into the Ambulance. This was a difficult task due to two flights of stairs and a very narrow area involved. Crew carried casualty out of property and into Ambulance .
23:31 Marne Road, Catterick Garrison
Richmond, Bedale and Reeth crews proceeded to reports of a fire in a residential property. On arrival crew confirmed a fire had occurred in kitchen of flat but was out on their arrival. Mild smoke logging to property. Crews ventilated property. No people were involved.
00:53 Tadcaster
Tadcaster crew dealt with a fire in the open by the river involving a large domestic bin. Crews extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet. Police informed and requested due to believed deliberate and crews dealing with same incident the previous evening.
Automatic fire alarms activated in Skipton and Bilton in Ainsty, These were investigated by local crews and confirmed to be false alarms.
