Incident Summary – Night Shift 13th August

Time: 17.07  Location:  West Bank, Carlton

A crew from Selby responded to a report of a fire in a grass field. The crews located a fire to a bird scarer and 2m x 2m of grass. Crews used 2 knapsack sprayers to extinguish the fire.

Time: 17.26  Location: Moor Lane, Murton

Crews from York and Tadcaster responded to a report of a fire to straw in a grass field. Fire measured approximately 8 m x 4 m. Crews used 1 hose reel jet and wildfire tools to extinguish.

Acomb and Tadcaster crews responded to a vehicle fire, on arrival crews found one vehicle well alights, crews extinguished using 2 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera.

Selby crews responded to a sighting of smoke, on arrival this was found to be a controlled burn with the responsible person in attendance, crews gave advice.

Harrogate crew responded to a motorbike fire that had spread to the grass verge. crews extinguished using 1 hose reel jet.

Time: 18.52   Location: Catterick Garrison 

A crew from Richmond responded to a tent on fire. Action was taken prior to fire service arrival, the fire measured approximately 5 X 5 metres. Crews inspected only. Cause believed deliberate.

Time: 19.15   Location: North Cowton

Crews from Richmond and Northallerton responded to reports of a residential fire. The fire was out on arrival, Crews inspected only, cause believed accidental.

Time: 19.41   Location: Harrogate

Knaresborough and Harrogate responded to a fire in a roof extractor unit. Fire was extinguished and the area was monitored between a thermal imaging camera.

Whitby crew responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision. All occupants were out the vehicle, crews isolated the vehicle battery using small tools.

Time: 20.59  Location: York

York crew responded to a campfire left unattended. On arrival crews found a fire measuring approximately 2 x 2 metres. Crews used a bucket of water to extinguish.

Time: 21.09   Location: Brompton

A crew from Northallerton responded to assist paramedics gain entry to a property. On arrival entry had already been gained and the casualty was left in the care of the paramedic on scene.

Time: 21.11  Location: York

Crews from Acomb were mobilised to reports of a fire sighted. On arrival this was found to be a false alarm due to controlled burning with the responsible in attendance. The fire was extinguished.

Time: 21.44  Location: Thorpe Basset Lane, Thorpe Basset 

A crew from Malton responded to a report of a fire to some grass on a roadside.  On arrival the crew found an area of grass approx 1m x 1m which was out on arrival, extinguished by a passer by.  Crews dampened the area down using 1 hose reel jet and a checked for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera.

A crew from Selby responded to a report of a fire in a field.  On arrival the crews found this to be controlled burning with the responsible person in attendance.  Crews gave advice.

Time: 22.18  Location: Grove Park Gardens, Settle

A crew from Bentham responded to a request to gain entry to a property on behalf of Ambulance.  Crews gained entry to the property and left the occupant in the hands of paramedics.

A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of a fire in a woodland.  On arrival the crews found a large bonfire which was extinguished using 1 hose reel jet.

Time: 22.30  Location: South View, Hunton

A crew from Leyburn responded to a report of a fire in a garden.  On arrival of the crews this was found to be a fire pit attended by the occupant.  After advice was given regarding wildlife and current conditions the fire was extinguished.

Time: 23.13  Location: The Green, Kirkby Malzeard.

A crew from Ripon responded to a report of a fire in a grass field.  On arrival of the crew this was found to be a fire pit which had been used as a BBQ which was managed and contained with occupant in attendance.

Time: 23.53  Location: Marine Drive, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to investigate a report of a campfire.  After a thorough search of the area no fire was found.

Time: 00.48  Location: Newlands Lane, West Lutton

A crew from Sherburn responded to a report of a hedge on fire near a road.  Crews found a fire to grassland measuring approx 20m x 20m which had spread to the hedge.  Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the and dampen down the area.

Time: 01.12  Location:  Back Lane, Wath

A crew from Summerbridge responded to a request to assist Ambulance with the difficult extrication of a casualty from their property into a road Ambulance.  Crews used crew power and Ambulance equipment to assist.

Time: 03.36  Location: York

York crew responded to a smell of burning. Crews investigated the area and found an individual having a controlled burn with extinguishing media present. Advice was given.

Time: 04.21  Location:  Stone Rings Lane, Harrogate

Two crews from Harrogate responded to a report of a fire in the utility room of a property.  The fire was out on arrival of the crews.  Crews carried out an inspection

Time: 06.46  Location:  Ure Bank Terrace, Ripon

Crews responded to reports of smoke in a property.  This incident is ongoing at time of publication.

Crews from Easingwold and Kirkbymoorside also responded to reports of automatic fire alarm activations.  After inspection these were found to be false alarms.
