Incident Summary – Thursday 5th March 2026 – Day Shift

Crew from York assisted after a baby was accidently locked in a car. Crew gained entry by breaking the small front window in order to retrieve the keys, they were then able to open the car and release the baby.

Crew from York responded to an automatic fire alarm at a residential premises. On arrival this was found to have been caused by workmen carrying out roofing work. They had been using hot works to attach bitumen roofing when they ignited a piece of wood. This caused smoke to enter the inside of the premises where someone activated a manual call point. Damage was confined to a small section of the exterior roofing only.

Crew from Acomb responded to reports of a fire in a field believed to have been started by youths. The fire consisted of household waste. Crew extinguished using 1 hose reel jet.
Time: 16:13 Location: Nawton
Crews from Kirkbymoorside and Pickering responded to reports of a wooden outbuilding on fire. On arrival crews located a fire to a building measuring 15 x 15 metres. Crews used 2 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. This incident remains ongoing at this time.
