Incident Summary – Sunday 17th May 2026 – Night Shift
Time: 18.40 Location: Allotment Gardens, Skipton
A crew from Skipton responded to a report of a small fire in a field. The fire was out on arrival of the crews and no fire service action was required.
Time: 18.46 Location: Harkness Close, Leeming Bar
A crew from Bedale responded to a report of fire and smoke sighted from a distance. On arrival of the crew this was found to be a controlled burn with responsible person in attendance.
Time: 19.21 Location: Wellington Street, York
A crew from York responded to assist a person who was locked out of a property which had important medication inside. Crews used small tools to gain entry to the property and advice was given to the responsible person present.
Time: 20.00 Location: Whitethorn Close, Huntington
Crews from York and Acomb responded to a report of a kitchen in a residential property which was full of smoke. On arrival of the crews this was due to a fire in a microwave which was out on arrival. Crews used thermal imaging camera to inspect the microwave and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear light smoke logging from the premises.

A crew from Scarborough responded to a request to assist Ambulance with extrication of a casualty from a property into a road ambulance. Crews used crew power and ambulance equipment to assist.

Whitby crew responded to a report of a fire in a woodland. On arrival of the crew no fire was found in the area.
Time: 23.48 Location: B1237 Clifton Moor.
A crew from Acomb responded to a report of a fire in woodland. On arrival the crews located a fire measuring approx 10m x 1m and extinguished it using 1 hose reel jet and knapsack sprayers.
Crews from Harrogate, York and Malton responded to automatic fire alarm activations. After investigation these were found to be false alarms. Advice was given to the responsible person present.
