Incident Summary – Friday 27th March 2026 – Day Shift

Time: 08:07  Location: Northstead, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of excessive smoke coming from a chimney. This was found to be from a log burner being lit for the first time. Advice was given.

Time: 09:41  Location: Combine Way, Eastfield

A crew from Scarborough responded to a vehicle that was on fire. On arrival the vehicle was well alight and crews extinguished using one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus.

Time: 09:41  Location: Yafforth Road, Northallerton

Crews from Northallerton, Bedale and Ripon responded to a tractor on fire which had spread to a nearby barn. Crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a thermal imaging camera and a dry powder extinguisher to extinguish the fire.

Time: 11:05  Location: High Street, Knaresborough

A crew from Knaresborough responded to a report of a smell of gas in a residential property. Crews gained access to the property and found that the gas was coming from a cooker which had accidentally been left on. The gas cooker was turned off and the property was ventilated.

Time: 14:06  Location: Stirling Road, York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision in which a car had collided with a metal hinge barrier. The occupants were out on arrival of the crews. Crews assisted police in making the vehicle safe. The incident was left in the hands of the police.

Time: 14:23  Location: Market Weighton Road, North Duffield

Both crews from Selby responded to a fire sighted in the open. Crews extinguished the fire, which contained pallets and plastic, using one hose reel jet and one breathing apparatus.

Time: 14:59  Location: Skipwith, Selby

A crew from Tadcaster responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision in which a car had come off the road and come to rest on its roof in a ditch. Crews extricated one casualty out of the rear door of the vehicle and made the vehicle safe. The casualty was left in the care of paramedics.

 

Crews from Harrogate, Scarborough and Acomb attended fire alarm activations. On arrival after investigation these were all found to be false alarms.
