Incident Summary – Wednesday Nightshift, 22nd April 2026
Time: 18:10 Location: East Cowton
Northallerton responded to a 10 metre hedge fire at the back of a property. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.
Time: 18:34 Location: Scarthingwell Lane, Church Fenton
Tadcaster responded to a fire in some woodland. Crews extinguished using a knapsack sprayer. Cause believed deliberate.
Time: 18:35 Location: King Rudding Lane, Riccall
Selby responded to a hay bale on fire. This was out on arrival of the crew. Cause believed deliberate.
Time: 19:10 Location: Monkton Road, York
A crew from Huntington responded to a fire in the open. This was a fire measuring approximately 5m x 5m and crews extinguished with a knapsack sprayer and buckets of a water. Cause believed deliberate.
Time: 20:43 Location: Hob Moor, York
A crew from Acomb responded to a report from the Police after they had received a call from the public of a fire sighted in the open. A full inspection of the area was completed and no fire was found.
Time: 05:38 Location: High Eggborough, Eggborough
Selby investigated reports of a fire in a field seen from by a driver on the M62. Crews discovered this to be a previous fire that was now smoldering. No fire service action was required as there was no risk of the fire reigniting or spreading.
Crews from York (x6), Knaresborough and Scarborough responded to activated fire alarms. After inspection, these were confirmed as false alarms.
