Incident summary – Saturday 11th April Night shift
17:52 Castlegate, Malton
Crew from Malton and York responded to assist Police with a two vehicle road traffic collision. Crew confirmed no people were trapped, occupants of vehicles had only minor injuries and were treated by Paramedics at the scene. Fire crew assisted Police and made vehicles safe.
18:21 Clifton Baccies, Acomb
Acomb crews responded to investigate a report of fire in woodland. After inspection crew confirmed this was a small bonfire that was left unsupervised. Crew used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish.
18:34 Fenton Lane, Sherburn in Elmet
Tadcaster and West Yorkshire crews Garforth and Pontefract responded to a unused building reported to be well alight. Crew requested a further appliance and then tackled the fire using breathing apparatus and hose reels. Fire was successfully extinguished. The cause of the fire is suspected to be deliberate.
18:58 Oswaldkirk
Helmsley crew investigated a report of a large fire in a field. After inspection crew confirmed this was a large bonfire under supervision. Fire Service intervention was not required. Advice was given to responsible person.
19:28 Carr House Lane, Scarborough
Crews from Scarborough attended a domestic property to assist with a reported gas leak. Crew liaised with gas engineer who attended scene and gave the resident advice.
22:49 Farnham Lane, Farnham
A crew from Knaresborough were mobilised to a fire that had been spotted in the open. Due to the fire being contained to two skips and away from any buildings, crews allowed the fire to safely burn out.
23:16 Pottery Lane, York
York and Acomb’s crews attended an incident at a residential property involving a shed fire in the rear garden. Crews used two hose reel jets, two breathing apparatus’, one thermal imaging camera and lighting to extinguish and dampen down.
23:28 Eversley Garth Crescent, Sherburn in Elmet
Tadcaster’s appliance was mobilised to reports of a fire in the open near a residential area. Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish.
Automatic Fire alarm activations were attended to by crews from Harrogate, Selby, York and Stokesley. All were investigated by crews and confirmed to be false alarms.
