Incident Summary – Monday 13th April – Night Shift

Time: 18:36  Location: George Street, Skipton

A crew from Skipton attended a residential property after a report of smoke inside the property. This was found to be from cooking that had been left unattended. The fire was out on arrival and crews cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Time: 18:52  Location: Burniston Grove, York

A crew from York responded to two young adults who were stuck in children’s swings. Crew power was used to release the people safe and well.

Time: 18:57  Location: Eastfield, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of a fire in the open. This was a small fire containing cut grass and was out on arrival of the crew. Crew dampened down the area using a knapsack sprayer.

Time: 19:14  Location: Selby

A crew from Selby responded to a report of a small camp fire sighted in the open. A thorough search was carried out of the reported area and no fire was found.

Time: 19:34  Location: Westgate, Pickering

Crews from Pickering and Kirbymoorside responded to a report of smoke in a residential building. This was found to be from a small fire to a plastic bucket which was out on arrival of the crew and had been removed from the property. Advice was given.

A crew from Thirsk responded to a request from carers to help move a patient within a residential property.

Time: 20:10  Location: Thornton Road, York

A crew from York responded to reports of a fire in a garden. This was confirmed to be a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given.

Time: 20:15  Location: Valley Road, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of people locked inside a residential building due to a broken lock on a door. On arrival the door was found to be fully functional and was opened using a residents keys.

Time: 23:07  Location: York Road, Thirsk

A crew from Thirsk responded to a fire sighted in the open. This was a fire consisting of wood measuring approximately 2m x 2m and crews extinguished using a hose reel jet.

A crew from Thirsk responded to a report of a sound of gas leaking in a residential property. On arrival after investigation this was confirmed to be a false alarm.

Time: 05:02 Location: A19, Deighton

Crews from York and Acomb responded to reports of a 2 vehicle road traffic collision. 4 occupants were out on arrival, with varying injuries. Some of the occupants were taken to hospital via road ambulance. Crews made the scene safe by using small tools to disconnect the batteries and an environmental pack to contain an oil spill.

Time: 06:10 Location: Harrogate Road, Littlethorpe

Crews from Ripon responded to reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision. All occupants were out on arrival. Two occupants were taken to hospital via road ambulance for precautionary checks. Crews made the vehicle safe with small tools and stabilisation, before assisting police to relocate the vehicles to a safe place to allow the road to be reopened.

Crews from Acomb, Harrogate, Knaresborough and Thirsk attended fire alarm activations. On arrival after investigation these were all confirmed as false alarm.
