Incident Summary – Thursday 16th April 2026 – Night Shift
Time: 17.58 Location: Maplehurst Avenue, York
A crew from York responded to reports of flooding inside a property, crews discovered water leaking from a bathroom sink. Crews stemmed the water leak by isolating the valves. Advice was given to responsible people present.
Time: 18.32 Location: Water Skellgate, Ripon
Ripon crew responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at a premises, on arrival crews found a pan containing oil smoking. The pan had already been removed from the heat prior to fire service arrival, however the room was heavily smoke logged. Crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the property.

Tadcaster crew responded to assist West Yorkshire fire and rescue with reports of a house fire. On arrival Wetherby crew were already on scene and it was found to be a false alarm due to cooking fumes.
Time: 19.41 Location: Clifton Backies, York
A crew from Acomb responded to a report of a small fire in a field. After a thorough inspection the crew were unable to locate the fire.
Time: 19.55 Location: Lotherington Mews, York
A crew from York responded to a report of youths setting a fire on a bench near the pond. after through inspection the crew located evidence of unsuccessful attempt to start a fire.
Time: 20.22 Location: Gribdale Gate, Kildale
A crew from Stokesley responded to a report of a fire in a woodland. Crews located a small campfire and extinguished using two knapsack sprayers.
Time: 21.49 Location: Beckett Close, Nawton
Kirkbymoorside crew responded to an individual locked in a room after the lock mechanism failed. Crews used small tools and and crew power to release the individual, advice was given to the occupants present.
Time: 22.58 Location: A1 Northbound J56 Barton interchange
Crews From Richmond, Northallerton and our colleagues from Darlington responded to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision, on fire crew arrival all occupants were out the vehicle and in the care of the paramedics. Crews ensured the vehicle was safe before leaving the incident in the hands of the police.
Time: 23.22 Location: Goathland, Whitby
Goathland crew responded to assist paramedics help a casualty after they had fallen, crews used ambulance equipment and crew power to safely assist them up. Fire crews left the casualty in the care of the paramedics.
Time: 02.24 Location: Middleham Avenue, York
Crews from Acomb and York responded to a vehicle fire, crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish.
Time: 02.33 Location: Hull Road, York
Huntington crew responded to water leaking into a property and it affecting electrics. Crews isolated the water and electrics in the property and gave advice to the responsible people present.
Crews from Selby and York also responded to reports of automatic fire alarm activations. After inspection these were found to be false alarms.
