Incident Summary – Sunday 19th April – Night Shift

17:10 – Clifton Backies, York

Crews from Acomb attended a fire involving grass land. They used back pack sprayers, shovels and beaters to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.

18:04 – Glasshouses

A crew from Harrogate responded top a report of a fire in the open. This was found to be a controlled burn under supervision.

18:37 – Stillington

A crew from Easingwold attended an incident involving a motorbike that had caught fire. The fire had been extinguished prior to the Fire Service arrival. The crew used a hose reel jet to dampen down remaining hot spots, and a thermal imaging camera to monitor the temperature.

18:45 – Cloughton

A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of a fire in the open close to a hedgerow. This was found to be a campfire under supervision. However, following advice from the crew, the responsible person decided to extinguish the fire.

20:20 – Filey

A crew from Scarborough attended an incident involving a fire in the rear garden of a property. The fire measured approximately 3metres by 3metres. Crews remained nearby to ensure the fire didn’t spread. Details of this incident were passed to the Police.

21:59 – Hessay

A crew from Acomb responded to a report of a large fire sighted south of the village. This was found to be a controlled burn under supervision.

01:00 – York

York’s crew attended an incident involving reports of smoke in the area. This was found to be a false alarm with no fire found.

06:13 – Sandhutton

Thirsk’s crew were mobilised to a fire that had been spotted in the open. After investigating, this was found to be a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.

Crews from York, Harrogate, Bedale and Northallerton attended automatic fire alarm activations throughout the evening. These were all found to be false alarms.
