Incident Summary – Sunday 26th April – Day Shift

08:04 – A64 Tadcaster

Crews from Tadcaster, Acomb and York assisted with extricating a person from a single vehicle road traffic collision. The person was transported to hospital via air ambulance.

11:05 – Carlton Bank, Stokesley

A crew from Northallerton responded to a report of an unattended fire in the open. This was a small seat of fire located in woodland. The crew extinguished this using rakes and buckets of water.

11:55 – Needle Point, Newtondale

Crews from Pickering and Goathland attended an incident where a fire had been left unattended in an area of forestry. Believed to be a campfire that had then spread to foliage on the forest floor. Fire measured 1.5m x 2m. The crews used knapsack sprayers and wildfire tools to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.

12:44 – A64, Malton

A crew from Malton responded to a report of a vehicle smoking. This was a false alarm and the cause was steam from the engine overheating.

12:57 – Stutton, Tadcaster

A crew from Tadcaster attended an incident involving a small lawn mower on fire. The crew used a hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area. The mower was completely destroyed by the fire.

14:12 – Hutton-Le-Hole

A crew from Kirkbymoorside responded to a report of a car issuing a small amount of smoke. This was found to be from sound proofing material surrounding the exhaust that had started to smoulder and then self-extinguished. The crew used a thermal imaging camera to monitor the temperature of the exhaust, and gave advice to the vehicle owner.

15:44 – Osmotherley

A crew from Northallerton responded to a report of a fire in the open. Upon arrival and after a thorough inspection of the area, no fire could be found.

15:51 – Bolton Abbey

A crew from Skipton responded to a report of a fire in the open. This was a large pile of waste that had a responsible person in attendance, however it was burning close to a fence. The crew used a hose reel jet to extinguish a section of the fire to protect the fence and gave advice to the land owner.

Crews from Acomb, Harrogate and Richmond responded to automatic fire alarm activations throughout the day. These were all confirmed as false alarms.
