Incident Summary – 28th April 2026, Tuesday Dayshift

Time: 08:45  Location: St Mary’s Walk, Harrogate

Both crews from Harrogate responded to a reported fire in the rear of a refuse vehicle. Crews inspected the wagon and found no sign of smoke or fire. One crew followed the vehicle back to a depot as a precaution whilst it emptied the contents to confirm no fire spread. Advice given and thermal camera used only.

Harrogate removed a ring stuck on a patients finger after a request from carers. Ring cutter used only.

Time: 12:59  Location: Acomb Fire Station

Acomb removed a ring stuck on a young persons finger who attended the fire station for help. Ring cutters used.

Time: 13:20  Location: Broxa Forest

A crew from Scarborough responded to a fire sighted in woodland. This was found to be a small campfire and crews extinguished and dampened down using a knapsack sprayer and bucket of water.

Time: 14:03  Location: Hunmanby, Filey

A crew from Scarborough responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision. All persons were out on arrival. Crews made the scene safe and provided immediate emergency care to one casualty until the arrival of further ambulance resources.

Time: 14:33  Location: Eastfield, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a fire sighted in the open. This was found to be smouldering grass which was out on arrival and crews used a hose reel jet to dampen down the area.

Time: 16:41 Location: Sutton Bank

A crew from Thirsk responded to a report of a vehicle on fire. This incident is ongoing at the time of publication.

Crews from Ripon, Scarborough and York also responded to activated fire alarms. After inspection, these were confirmed as false alarms.
