Incident Summary – Day Shift 7th May

Time: 10.15  Location:  Whitby Drive, York

Crews from Acomb and York responded to a report of a fire to a lithium battery of an appliance that was on charge.  Crews used 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to ensure it was out.

Time: 10.50  Location:  Queensway, Scarborough

Two crews from Scarborough responded to a report of a hob that had been left on resulting on a strong smell of gas in a property.  The property had been ventilated prior to Fire Service arrival, crews fitted a smoke alarm in the property.

Time: 11.12  Location: M62, Junction 35 

Crews from Humberside, Selby and Tadcaster responded to a report of an HGV that had left the carriageway and come to rest on its side.  The driver was out of the vehicle being checked over by Air Ambulance crew on arrival of the crews and no Fire Service action was required.

Time: 11.24  Location:  Gildercliffe, Scarborough

Crews from Scarborough responded to a report of a fire in a kitchen.  On arrival of the crews the occupant had evacuated the premises and crews located a small fire to a paper roll that had been left on a hob when it was turned on.  The fire was out on arrival of the crew.  Crew used a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the property.

Time: 14.04  Location:  The Gardens, Filey

Crews from Filey and Scarborough responded to a report of smoke coming from the microwave in a residential property.  On arrival the crews found this to be a result of cooking fumes.  Crews ventilated the property.

Time: 14.19  Location:  High Street, Knaresborough

A crew from Knaresborough responded to a report of a child that had become locked inside a vehicle.  Crews used pack ex and a glass breaker to release the child from the vehicle and left them with the parents.

Time: 14.33  Location:  Staxton Hill, Scarborough

A crew from Sherburn responded to a report of a fire that was seen from the A64. Crews found this was a controlled burn under supervision.

Time: 15.09  Location:  Norby Estate, Norby

Crews from Thirsk and Northallerton responded to a report of a fire to a kitchen of a residential property.  Crews used 2 Breathing Apparatus and 1 Hose reel Jet to extinguish the fire and a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the premises.

Time: 16.23  Location:  Betton Rise, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a request from Ambulance to assist with the extrication of a patient from their premises into an Ambulance.

Crews from Northallerton and Skipton responded to reports of an automatic fire alarm activations.  After inspection these were found to be a false alarms.
