Incident Summary – Night Shift – 14th May
18:28 – Mill Street, Norton
Malton’s appliance was requested by police to assist with scene safety, following a single vehicle road traffic collision, due to the car appearing to be smoking. On crews arrival, this was found to be a false alarm due to steam from the radiator. No action taken, incident was left with police.
20:51 – Gristhorpe
Both Scarborough crews with the aerial ladder platform and Filey’s pump were mobilised to assist police, coast guard and ambulance with a cliff rescue. Crews treated the casualty with high flow oxygen and an IEC pack due to them suffering a medical episode. Crews used gotcha equipment to support the person to a place of safety. The incident was left with police and ambulance staff.
21:15 – Whitcliffe Lane, Ripon
Ripon’s appliance were mobilised to an incident involving a small bin fire. Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish and dampen down.
22:37 – Main Street, Ulleskelf
Both pump’s from Tadcaster were mobilised to a potential property fire involving electrical cables. On crews arrival, there was no fire present, however crews used lighting to monitor the cables until a Northern power grid engineer was on scene, the power was then isolated and the incident was left with with the engineer.
02:30 – Woodland Ravine, Scarborough
Both Scarborough’s crews were the aerial ladder platform were requested to assist police with a rescue from height. Crews set up equipment nearby, however were stood down due to police getting to the person safely. No action taken, incident was left with police.
Crews from Selby, Acomb, York, Richmond, Knaresborough and Ripon responded to automatic fire alarm activations all across county. After investigation, these were all found to be false alarms.
