Incident Summary – Saturday 16th May 2026 – Day Shift

Time: 09.50   Location:  Broats Lane, Whixley

Crews from Knaresborough and Acomb responded to a report of smoke coming from an electrical cupboard in a residential premises.  The crews found a small fire in the electrical unit that was out on arrival. Crews used small tools and thermal imaging camera to inspect the area and gave advice to responsible person to contact an electrical engineer.

Time:  11.11  Location: Boroughbridge Road, Romanby

Crews from Northallerton and Bedale responded to a report of an electrical burning smell inside a residential property.  The cause was found to be a lithium back up battery for an emergency phone.  Crews removed the phone and placed the battery in a bucket of water.

Time: 13.44   Location:  Doncaster Road, Selby

A crew from Selby responded to a report of an automatic fire alarm activation in a residential premises.  After inspection this was found to be a false alarm caused by cooking fumes. Crews gave advice.

Time:  15.45  Location: Cemetary Road, York 

A crew from York responded to a report of a person who had become stuck in a baby swing on a play park.  Crews used a step ladder and crew power to release the person who was uninjured.

Time:  16.25  Location: New Row, Boroughbridge

A crew from Ripon responded to a report of a fire to a bin in a garden.  Crews used 1 hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
