Incident Summary – Tuesday 19th May – Night Shift
Time: 17:51 Location: Brompton on Swale
A crew from Richmond responded to sightings of plumes of smoke in the open, this was confirmed to be a controlled burn with responsible person in attendance.
Time: 18:55 Location: High Street, Northallerton
A crew from Northallerton responded to a member of the public stuck on the roof of a retail building, crews used a 9m ladder to rescue them and bring them back down to safety.
Time: 19:13 Location: Dale Cresent, Carleton
Two crews from Skipton responded to a shed on fire within the garden of a residential property. When crews arrived both the wheelie bins and wooden shed were well alight, crews extinguished using 1 hose reel jet, 2 breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera used to check for hotspots. The cause was believed to be accidental with the shed being 100% fire damaged but didn’t spread to any adjacent property.

A crew from Acomb responded to a cardboard recycling bin on fire, this was extinguished by crews using 1 hose reel jet and believed to have been caused deliberately by youths.
Time: 20:36 Location: B6164, Wetherby
Crew from Knaresborough responded to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision where the vehicle had rolled and was on its roof. All persons were out on the arrival of crews so they assisted with scene safety alongside Police and Ambulance. Crews used edraulic spreaders, cutters and small tools.

Acomb crew responded to report of a small fire in the street, on arrival the window frame of a retail premises was on fire. The window had been broken and the fire was contained to just the frame, crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish. Police were made aware and the cause for this incident is still being investigated.
Time: 03:22 Location: St Andrews Crescent, Harrogate
Both crews from Harrogate responded to a caravan fire. The caravan was parked on the driveway of a residential premises, crews used a hose reel jet and 2 breathing apparatus to extinguish. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots, the gas cylinder within the caravan was not affected by the fire.
Crews from York, Scarborough, responded to automatic fire alarms which once on scene were confirmed to be false alarms.
