Time: 17:19    Location: Parliament Street, Harrogate

Harrogate responded to a person trapped inside a glass lift. Crews were able to release the occupant from the lift car using crew power.

Time: 18:25    Location: Hawthorns Lane, Malham

Both Skipton appliances responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision with two people trapped inside while the vehicle was still on its side. Under medical guidance of air and road ambulance crew, the casualties were able to self extricate from the vehicle after firefighters removed the windscreen and stabilised the vehicle using their stab fast equipment. Both occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital via road ambulance and the incident was left with police to arrange the recovery of the vehicle.

Time: 18:50    Location: Gargrave Road, Skipton

Grassington responded to a smoldering log on the side of the road. Crews dampened down the log and surrounding areas using a hose reel jet.

Time: 18:56    Location: Malton Road, Pickering

Pickering and Malton responded to waste inside a building measuring 30m x 60m issuing smoke. Crews in breathing apparatus opened shutters to the building and the responsible people on site removed the smoldering waste with a mechanical shovel. Fire crews dampened the waste down using a hose reel jet and main jet outside the building as it was removed by the shovel. No fire or smoke damage was evident inside the building and natural ventilation was used to remove the residual smoke still inside. The incident was left with the responsible people on site who will monitor the waste overnight and request the fire service if smoke begins to issue again.

Time: 19:12    Location: Knavesmire Wood, York

Acomb responded to a tree house on fire. Crews extinguished the fire with knapsack sprayers and small tools, dampening down the surrounding area. The cause was believed deliberate and police were informed.

Time: 20:08    Location: Old Lane, Hambleton

Selby responded to a small campfire in a field. The fire was out on their arrival and a knapsack sprayer was used to dampen down the surrounding area. The cause of the fire was believed deliberate.

Time: 20:11    Location: Marine Drive, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough mobilised to a fire seen in the area. On arrival, this was found to be a BBQ with the responsible person. Crews gave advice to the responsible person.

Time:  20:32   Location: North Sands, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a bonfire set on the beach. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and advice was given to the responsible person.

Time:  20:49   Location: Near Haxby Road, Huntington

A crew from Acomb and York responded to a fire measuring 10m x 10m in a farmers field with standing crops. The fire had been dealt with by the land owner prior to the crews arrival and an inspection was completed by the crews. The cause was believed deliberate and the landowner informed police.

Time:  21:13   Location: Carlton Road, Thirsk

Thirsk crew responded to a request from ambulance crews to gain entry to a property to allow them to complete a welfare check on the occupant inside. Crews gained access using small tools and the patient was left in the care paramedics.

Time:  22:39   Location: Fairfax Court, York

Acomb crew responded to an automated activation of the emergency button within a lift, upon crews arrival there was nobody within the lift and its believed the button was accidentally activated in error.

Time: 22:40     Location: Chancel Way, Whitby

A crew from Whitby responded to a request from Ambulance to assist getting a casualty down the stairs within a residential property and onto the road Ambulance. Crews assisted using crew power and left the casualty in the care of Paramedics.

Time: 05:43    Location: Malton Road, Pickering

Pickering reattended a refuse building which had began to issue smoke again. Crews began extinguishing the rubbish with a 45mm jet and light smoke logging was present in the building. However, the building was already ventilated so natural ventilation was used to clear the smoke quickly and on site machinery was used to remove more of the smoldering refuse for crews which crews dampened down. Incident left with onsite staff to consider monitoring after no further hotspots were found.

 

Crews from York, Filey and Northallerton (x2) also responded to activated fire alarms. After inspection, these were confirmed as false alarms.
