Incident Summary – 29th May – Night Shift

18:24 – Red Hills Road, Ripon

A crew from Ripon were mobilised to a small campfire in a wooded area that was at a risk of spreading. Crews extinguished the fire using 3 buckets of water, 3 knapsack sprayers and a wild fire tool. Crews gave advice to responsible people.

18:42 – Westfield Place, Acomb

Crews from Tadcaster and Acomb were mobilised to reports of a dog that had fallen into a beck with the owner unable to locate it and get it out. Fire service were stood down from this incident whilst enroute due to the owner being reunited with the dog.

22:07 – Rowan Court, Catterick Village

Crews from Bedale and Richmond responded to a fire in the rear garden of a property that then spread to the exterior of a building. The fire was out on crews arrival, crews checked for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera, triple extension ladder and lighting. The area was dampened down with a hose reel and the incident was left with the homeowner.

22:39 – Water Lane, York

Acomb’s appliance attended an incident involving reports of a large fire in the open. This was found to be a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given to responsible person.

00:17 – Old Rugby Way, Scarborough

Scarborough’s pump was mobilised to assist with persons trapped in a lift. Crews used a lift key to release them uninjured.

00:19 – Skyreholme Bank

A crew from Grassington responded to reports of a vehicle fire. Crews used a hose reel jet, thermal imaging camera, small tools and half face respirators to extinguish and dampen down the area. This incident was left with police.

04:12 – Windsor Avenue, Richmond

Richmond’s appliance were requested by police to assist with gaining entry to a property, with a casualty inside, on behalf of ambulance. Crews used a triple extension ladder to gain access through a window and then crew power and a carry chair to extricate the casualty into a road ambulance where they were then taken to hospital by paramedics.

04:47 – Westborough, Scarborough

Crews from Scarborough responded to reports of a bin fire, a hose reel jet was used to extinguish and dampen down the area.

Crews from Scarborough, Easingwold and Ripon attended automatic fire alarm activations through the night. These were all false alarms.
