Incident Summary – Wednesday 3rd June – Night Shift

Time: 17:44  Location: Lakeside Way, York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to a bird hide, measuring approximately 3m x 5m, which was well alight. Crews extinguished and dampened down using a hose reel jet. Cause believed deliberate.

Time: 19:35  Location: Rawdon Avenue, York

A crew from York responded to a fire in the open measuring approximately 1m x 3m consisting of wood. The fire was out on arrival and crews dampened down using a knapsack sprayer. Cause believed deliberate.

Time: 20:42  Location: Castle road, Scarborough

Both crews from Scarborough responded to smoke inside a commercial property. The smoke was found to be coming from a fridge unit. Crews isolated the fridge and monitored the equipment. The incident was handed over to a responsible person and advice was given.

Time: 21:01  Location: Common Lane, Burn

A crew from Selby responded to reports of a fire in the open. This was found to be a fire measuring approximately 20m x 20m consisting of garden and household waste. Crews extinguished using two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera. Cause believed deliberate.

Time: 21:04  Location: Stray Road, York

A crew from Selby responded to a fire in the open. The fire was out on arrival of the crew and they dampened down the area using a knapsack sprayer. Cause believed deliberate.

Time: 22:37  Location: Riverside View, Norton

Both crews from Malton responded to reports of smoke inside a residential property. This was found to be a false alarm caused by an overheating light bulb. Crews checked over the property with a thermal imaging camera.
