Incident summary – Tuesday 23rd June night shift

16:56 Bootham Row, York

Crews from York responded to assist a person locked inside a public toilet. Person was successfully released without harm.

17:07 Henrietta Street, Whitby

Crews from Whitby were sent to commercial property due to a report about smoke issuing from eaves of property. Crew investigated and informed Control that this was a false alarm, this was a traditional smoke house for smoking fish and had been mistaken for a fire.

18:05 Newborough, Scarborough

Scarborough crews were sent to a public bin on fire. Crew extinguished the fire using a hose reel. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate,  involving aerosols

18:22 Westgate, Pickering

Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley crews assisted with a two vehicle road traffic collision. No people were trapped. Crews moved vehicles from blocking the road and made the scene safe. The incident was left in the hands of the Police and Ambulance.

00:48  Kildale

Stokesley and Danby crews were sent to investigate an area in woodland smoldering involving undergrowth and peat. Crew confirmed a small campfire had spread to woodland area. Crews extinguished the fire using knapsack sprayers and a hose reel.

01:23 Greenshaw Drive, York

York crews responded to assist a person stuck in a lift. Crews released person unharmed.

03:05 Dixons Yard, York

York crews responded to assist with a faulty boiler causing significant water leakage into two flats. Crews isolated the leak, made the scene safe safe and gave advice to occupants.

05:52 Littlethorpe

Ripon crew attended following a report of an almost burnt out vehicle in the area. On arrival, crew confirmed vehicle completely fire damaged. Crew used one hose reel jet to damp down and cool. Incident left with Police.

 

Smoke alarm activations were investigated by crews from Harrogate (three individual activations throughout the shift), Acomb and Richmond crews. These were all confirmed to be false alarms.
