Incident summary for Monday, 6th July, 2026 – Day shift

Time: 08:34     Location: Main Street, Hemingbrough

Crews from York and Selby responded to a report of a car colliding with another parked vehicle. No persons trapped. Fire crew provided first aid to the male driver until the arrival of an ambulance, who then transported two persons, male and female, to hospital, for precautionary checks. Fire crews also made vehicles safe.

Enroute to York fire station, Tadcaster fire appliance came across a car which had broken down at a busy junction. Crew power used to move vehicle to a safer location.

Time: 09:33     Location: Grove Square, Leyburn

Richmond fire crew responded to a call from the driver of a car who believed it was on fire. After inspection by fire crew, no signs of fire found. Believed false alarm good intent due to an overheated or blown engine. Vehicle made safe.

Time: 10:56     Location: Station Road, Cayton, Scarborough

Two Scarborough fire appliances responded to a tractor fire which spread to adjacent grassland of approx 20sqm. Hose reel jet, breathing apparatus and thermal camera used. 100% fire damage to tractor and hay turner. Cause – unknown.

At Police request, Richmond fire crew gained access to a premises, with the occupant left in their care.

At Police request on behalf of Ambulance, Malton fire crew gained access to a premises, with the occupant left in their care.

Time: 13:31     Location: The Village, Wigginton, York

York fire crew used crew power to assist care staff move a male from his wheelchair.

Hose reel jet used to extinguish grass banking.

Time: 14:18     Location: Keld

Hawes crew responded to a fallen female in a doorway with staff and members of the public unable to pick her up. Ambulance also requested.

Time: 14:31     Location: Cheltenham Crescent, Harrogate

Both Harrogate appliances responded to an alarm activation within a residential premises with steam/smoke sighted. This was found to be cooking fumes coming from a microwave. Fire crew ventilated communal kitchen.

Time: 14:42     Location: Byland Avenue, York

Following a call of excessive smoke from an out of control rear garden fire, York were mobilised to investigate. False alarm – chimnea being used to burn a small amount of wood.

Time: 15:02     Location: Hambleton Grove, Knaresborough

Following a power cut, Knaresborough crew responded to two persons stuck in a lift. Lift keys used to release two persons unharmed.

Time: 15:39     Location: Front Street, Sowerby

Following a power cut, Northallerton crew responded to one person stuck in a lift. Manual over ride used to bring lift to ground floor where 1 staff member released unharmed.

Time: 15:40     Location: Woodland Ravine, Scarborough

A Scarborough appliance came across a male having a suspected seizure. First aid administered until requested ambulance arrived.

Harrogate aerial ladder platform and its supporting appliance responded to three persons stuck approx 15 feet from the ground in a car on The Big Wheel. Triple extension ladder used to bring 2 adults and 1 child to earth safely.

Acomb fire crew responded to a fire in woodland. Fire crew used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish an unattended campfire.

Time: 16:38     Location: James Backhouse Place, York

York fire crew responded to a fire in a bin. Extinguish by knapsack sprayer. Cause -accidental.
