Incident Summary – Wednesday 8th July 2026 – Day Shift

Time: 08.31     Location: Fifth Avenue, York 

Crews from York responded to smoke sighted outside. On arrival this was found to be a false alarm due to controlled burning. Advice was given to the responsible person on scene.

Time: 08.59    Location: Albion Road, Scarborough 

Crews from Whitby responded to reports of smoke sighted coming from a building. Crews confirmed this to be a false alarm due to dust from builders.

Time: 11:16 Location: Hospital Road, Malton

Crews from Malton, Kirkbymoorside, Pickering, Acomb, York, Helmsley, Pocklington, and Selby all attended a fire involving a single storey building well alight. No persons were inside building during fire. This incident is ongoing and Fire Service will remain at scene for sometime.

Knaresborough and Harrogate responded to a wagon smoking, crews used two hose reel jets and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire confined to the engine compartment.

Stokesley crews attended a bonfire in a field that had spread to a hedge. Crew used a hose reel to extinguish

Lythe crews attended a a campfire left unattended and extinguished it using buckets of water.

Time:13:50  Location: Cooper House, Norwood 

Harrogate, Otley, Skipton and Rawcliffe attended a fire involving a domestic property. Fire damaged the roof and solar panels. Cause is believed to be accidental. Crews used ladders and hose reels to extinguish the fire.

Richmond crews assisted Ambulance Crew with extrication of casualty from their property into ambulance.

Time:14:11  Location: Whitby Road, Scarborough

Filey crews assisted Ambulance Crew lifting an carrying patient from path where they had fallen, into Ambulance with suspected spinal injuries.

Summerbridge crew assisted Ambulance Service with moving a patient in awkward position into Ambulance

Snaith crews assisted with an LPG cylinder venting off due to heat. Crews set up a ground monitor to cool cylinder. A specialist engineer was requested to attend.

Wetherby and Skipton crews attended a large vehicle fire. Cause is believed to be accidental. Crew used a hose reel jet to extinguish.
