Incident Summary – Saturday, 18th July 2026 – Night Shift
Time: 17:29 Location: Draughton, Skipton
Skipton responded to reports of a fire within a field. After inspection, this was confirmed as a controlled burn. Advice was given to the responsible person.
Time: 19:14 Location: Near Church Fenton
Tadcaster responded to a fire measuring 2 x 2 metres consisting of brash, dry grass and undergrowth. Crews extinguished the fire with two knapsack sprayers.
Time: 20:13 Location: Cammock Lane, Settle
Bentham mobilised to a vehicle with smoke coming from the dashboard. On arrival of the crew the vehicle was no longer smoking and they isolated its battery. The vehicle was left with the responsible person.
Time: 20:26 Location: Queen Margarets Road, Scarborough
Scarborough mobilised to a small fire in some woodland. This was found to be a campfire which crews extinguished with a knapsack sprayer.
Time: 22:14 Location: Lancaster Park Road, Harrogate
A crew from Harrogate responded to a request to remove 2 rings from a persons finger which required urgent attention. Crews removed the rings using ring cutters and small tools.
Time: 00:09 Location: Little Carthorpe
A crew from Ripon responded to reports of a large fire. This was a controlled burn under supervision.
Time: 03:00 Location: Highthorn Road, York
York crew were requested by police to gain entry for two carers who were unable to access a property after suspecting the occupant inside had fallen over due to an activated fall pendant. Crews arrived on scene and managed to get a response from another occupant inside who allowed access, confirming all persons inside were safe and well. It is believed the pendant was activated in error and no further fire service action was required.

Crews from Kirkbymoorside and Malton responded to reports of a residential property fire. The fire was out on arrival of the crew and the incident was left with the Police.
Crews for York (x5), Bentham and Scarborough responded to fire alarm activations inside residential properties. On arrival, after investigation these were all confirmed as false alarms.
