Incident Summary – Thursday 23rd July – Day Shift
09:42 – Acomb
Acomb’s crew responded to a report of a fire in the open. This was a controlled burn under supervision.
10:16 – Selby
A crew from Selby responded to a washing machine fire in a property. Fire was out on arrival of the crew and they removed the appliance from the building. The washing machine was inspected using small tools and a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire was fully out.
10:18 – Raincliffe Woods
A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of people lighting a campfire in woodland. Crews extinguished using 2 knapsack sprayers and gave advice to the responsible person.
13:23 – Stokesley
A crew from Northallerton responded to reports of a fire in the open. This was a controlled burn under supervision with a water supply nearby.
13:23 – Sharow
Ripon attended a location with a strong smell of burning in the area. Upon further inspection this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision with safety precautions and a water supply in place.
13:27 – Selby
Selby and Tadcaster assisted paramedics with a difficult extrication of a casualty from a premises. They used crew power to move the casualty into an ambulance to be transported to hospital.
13:57 – Sessay
Crews from Thirsk and Ripon responded to a corn dryer on fire. This incident is still ongoing at the time of publication with crews currently working alongside farmer to empty the contents of the dryer.
13:59 – York
Acomb assisted paramedics remove a casualty from the city walls who had fallen and suffered a broken ankle. They used the aerial ladder platform and crew power to move the casualty into an ambulance to be taken to hospital.
14:22 – Knaresborough
A crew from Harrogate assisted at an address where smoke was issuing from an electrical installation. Crews inspected using a thermal imaging camera and found no fire. Advice was given to the homeowner to contact an electrician.
14:30 – Tadcaster
A crew from Tadcaster attempted to assisted a person locked out of a vehicle. Advice was eventually given to the owner to contact a lock smith rather than the crew damage the vehicle by smashing a window.
14:38 – A1M
Northallerton’s crew responded to a report of a fire on the hard shoulder of the A1M. After a thorough search of the area, no fire was found.
15:15 – Hemingbrough
A crew from Selby responded to a small fire in the open. They used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
15:15 – Kelfield
Crews from Tadcaster are assisting with rescuing a calf stuck in mud on a river bank using specialist animal rescue equipment. This incident is ongoing at the time of publication.
15:45 – Green Hammerton
Crews from Harrogate and Acomb responded to a crop field that had caught fire during harvesting. Farmers had supressed the fire prior to Fire Service arrival, who assisted with damping down the affected area.
16:11 – Potto
A crew from Northallerton are currently in attendance at a muck heap on fire. This incident remains ongoing at the time of publication.
Scarborough x2 and Hawes responded to automatic fire alarm activations. These were confirmed as a false alarms.
