Incident Summary – Night Shift 8th August
Time: 17.29 Location: Rudcarr Lane, York
A crew from York responded to a report of a fire that had spread to a stubble field and a hedge row. The occupier extinguished the fire prior to Fire Service arrival. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the remaining hotspots.
Time: 17.30 Location: A168 Sowerby
Crews from Richmond, Knaresborough and Ripon responded to a report of a 2 vehicle road traffic collision. All persons were out on arrival of the crew. Crews made the vehicle safe and left the incident in the hands of police.
Time: 17.37 Location: Danby Low Moor, Danby
A crew from Whitby responded to a report of smoke that had been sighted on moorland. Crews located an area of smoldering moorland measuring 10m x 10m. Crews used an extended hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
Time: 17.46 Location: Stokesley
A crew from Stokesley alongside Coulby Newham (Cleveland FRS) responded to a report of a smoke alarm sounding at a residential premises. The alarm was a false alarm found to have been caused by cooking fumes.
Time: 18.16 Location: South Cliff, Scarborough
After Control recieved a 999 call where the line dropped out and Control could not recontact the caller, a crew from Scarborough responded to investigate the area identified as where the caller had been. Crews located a BBQ which was almost out on arrival of the crew and the people in attendance had adequate extinguishing media. Advice was given.
Time: 18.49 Location: Marage Road, Thirsk
A crew from Thirsk responded to a report of a controlled burn in a garden that had become out of control. On arrival of the crews the resident had extinguished the fire. Crews gave advice.
Time: 19.51 Location: Stirling Road, York
A crew from Acomb responded to a report of a fire to a cigarette bin. On arrival of the crew members of the public had extinguished the fire using 2 buckets of water. Crews used thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire was extinguished.
Time: 19.52 Location: Duggleby, Malton
Crews from Malton, Pickering, Filey and Driffield (Humberside FRS) plus Kirkbymoorsides Argocat responded to a field on fire. The fire measured approx 150m x 100m to a stubble and standing crop field. Farm Machinery was used to cut fire breaks around the fire and crews used hose reel jets, knapsack sprayers and beaters to extinguish the fire and put a wet line in to prevent re-ignition of the fire.

A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of a car which was overrevving due to an engine fault. On arrival at the incident no Fire Service action was required.
Time: 20.55 Location: Springfield Terrace, Sherburn
Crews from Scarborough and Huntington responded to a report of smoke coming from the exit vent of a boiler on a house wall.
Time: 20.56 Location: Blea Moor Road, Ingleton
Crew from Hawes responded to a report of a fire that had been lit on a verge in a layby. Crews located a small campfire and extinguished it using a bucket of water.
Time: 21.37 Location: Arkengarthdale Road, Reeth
A crew from Reeth responded to a report of a fire to heather on a moor. Fire crew used a hose reel to extinguish a camp fire started by youths and left incident with a gamekeeper who was awaiting Police attendance.
Time: 21:55 Location: Tennyson Avenue, York
York and Acomb fire appliances responded to a fire in a rear garden which had spread to a fence. Fire extinguished by crews using a hose reel with Police informed and cause determined as deliberate.
Time: 22:21 Location: Dunsley
Lythe and Whitby responded to a fire to a combine harvester. Two hose reels were used to dampen down the combine and a small amount of hay on fire in a field. Cause believed due to wheat dust which had ignited.
Time: 22:44 Location: Horsefair, Boroughbridge
Crews from Ripon and Harrogate responded to an overturned Landrover Defender. Both occupants out on fire arrival with the driver unharmed and passenger requiring a precautionary check. Fire crew made the affected vehicle and a number of parked vehicles which it had clipped, safe.
Time: 23:12 Location: Lowfield Lane, Scrayingham
Crews from Huntington and Malton responded to an overturned Mercedes. Driver trapped by seatbelt, which the fire crews released allowing them to exit vehicle unharmed.
Time: 00:02 Location: Church Fenton
A crew from Tadcaster were requested by Ambulance to cut down the length of a rake which had impaled the foot of a casualty prior to them being able to transport to hospital. Reciprocating saw used.
Time: 00:04 Location: Sherburn in Elmet
Knaresborough crew mobilised to a report of a water leak affecting electrics. The homeowner had isolated both water and electricity prior to Fire arrival. Advice given.
Time: 00:25 Location: Grosmont
Whitby crew used crew power to free a female from a bath after she was unable to get back out.
Time: 02.58 Location: Tanton Road, Stokesley
A crew from Stokesley responded to a single vehicle that had left the road and there was a smell of burning coming from it. The occupants were out of the vehicle on arrival of the fire service. Crew checked car over with thermal imaging camera and found no signs of smoke or fire.
Time: 03.21 Location: York
Crew from Acomb responded to a request from Ambulance to gain entry to a property due to concerns for the welfare of the occupant at the address. Crews gained entry through a front window and left the incident in the hands of the Ambulance crew.
Time: 04.23 Location: Bishopthorpe Road, York
A crew from York responded to a tree that was on fire. Crews extinguished the fire using 2 knapsack sprayers. Police were informed due to the cause of the fire was believed deliberate.
Time: 06.07 Location: Higher Scarcliffe, Carleton
A crew from Skipton responded to a report of a fire to a hot tub located in a woodland. Crews used 1 hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.
There were also alarm activations responded to in: Stokesley, Glusburn and York. All proved false alarms.
