Incident Summary – Friday, 28th August 2026
Time: 18:14 Location: Barton-le-Street
Malton responded to flames sighted next to a dismantled railway line. After inspection, crews discovered a controlled burn under supervision measuring approximately 30 by 20 metres. Crews monitored the fire to ensure no risk of fire spread before leaving the fire in the hands of the responsible person. Advice was given.

Northallerton responded to a small fire within a skip. Crews extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet. It is believed this fire was deliberately ignited.
Time: 18:27 Location: Near Hambleton, Selby
Selby responded to reports of a fire in a field. After inspection, this was confirmed as controlled burning under supervision with the responsible person in attendance. Crews will be revisiting this fire which measures 3 x 5 metres tomorrow morning to give further advice.

Northallerton assisted ambulance crews with gaining entry to a property after no response from the occupant inside. Crews gained access using small tools and the occupant was left in the care of paramedics.

Richmond responded to a fire alarm activation inside a domestic premises. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm.
Time: 20:20 Location: James Street, Harrogate
Harrogate responded to two people trapped inside the lift of a residential building. Crews released both occupants and advice was given to on site staff to have lift inspected by an engineer.
Time: 20:44 Location: Knaresborough Road, Ripon
Ripon assisted a young person trapped in a swing. Crews located the young person and offered them advice which allowed them to self extricate successfully without injury. No fire service action was required, advice only.
Time: 21:02 Location: A64, Copmanthorpe
Tadcaster assisted police with scene safety of a vehicle involved in a previous road traffic collision that required recovery. Fire crews provided lighting for the scene until recovery arrived.
Time: 22:12 Location: Ripley Road, Knaresborough
Knaresborough responded to a request from police to gain entry for ambulance crews unable to access a property and complete a welfare check on the occupant inside. Crews gained access to the property and the occupant was taken to hospital via road ambulance.
Time: 22:44 Location: Acomb Road, Acomb
Acomb responded to reports of a fire close to some trees. Crews extinguished the fire which was discovered to be inside a brazier left unattended. One hose reel jet used.
Time: 23:21 Location: North Road, RIpon
Ripon responded to assist ambulance crews with gaining access through a gate which had stopped them from being able to respond to their intended destination. Fire crews were able to climb over a wall and locate a responsible person who could open the gate and allow the ambulance crews access. Paramedics located their casualty and no further fire service action was required.

Selby responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm.
Time: 02:15 Location: Aspin Lane, Knaresborough
A crew from Knaresborough responded to a request from the Ambulance service to gain entry to a residential property after the occupant had fallen within. Crews gained entry via an open window and the occupant was left in the care of paramedics.
Time: 03:12 Location: Northstead, Duggleby
Both crews from Malton responded to smoke coming from a residential property. This was an oven fire which was out on arrival. Crews checked for hotspots. The cause was accidental.
Time: 03:56 Location: Bridge Street, Boroughbridge
A crew from Boroughbridge responded to reports of a fire alarm sounding in a residential premises. This was a false alarm caused by a fault on the system.
Time: 05:22 Location: Royal Parade, Filey
A crew from Filey responded to reports of an alarm activating inside a disabled toilet, with potential for somebody to be inside. Crews gained entry with the local authority but no persons were found within.
