Incident Summary – Night Shift – 3rd September
18:28 – Askham Bryan, York
Acomb’s appliance responded to reports of a fire in the open. On crews arrival, this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision. Crews gave advice to responsible person and left it with them.
19:00 – York Road, Thirsk
Thirsk’s crew were mobilised to a small fire in the open. Crews dampened down the surrounding areas of the fire using a hose reel jet and allowed the fire to burn out safely under supervision.
20:50 – Crossfield Crescent, York
Both York and Acomb’s crews responded to a fire in a residential property due to a mechanical fault on a fan. The fire was out on the arrival of crews, a thermal imaging camera was used to scan for any remaining hotspots. Advice was given to the occupiers.
21:30 – Carleton
Skipton’s appliance was mobilised to assist with moving a casualty following a fall. Crew power was used to transport them into a comfortable position and they were left with a responsible person.
22:29 – Burnsall Drive, York
Acomb’s crew were requested to assist ambulance with the difficult extrication of a patient following a fall. Crews used a recip saw along with hard and soft protection to release them, before leaving them in the care of paramedics.
01:53 – Dene Park, Harrogate
Harrogate’s appliance were requested by ambulance to assist with gaining entry to a property with a casualty inside. Crews used spreaders to force open the key safe box and opened the door for paramedics, the incident was left with them.
Crews from York (x2) and Malton responded to automatic fire alarm activations during the night. These were all found to be false alarms.
