Incident Summary – Monday Nightshift, 9th February 2026

Time:  17:40      Location:  Near Wighill Lane, Tadcaster

Tadcaster responded to reports of a fire seen from a road into Tadcaster. After inspection, this was confirmed as a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given.

Time:  17:47      Location: Pickhill, Thirsk

A crew from Harrogate inspected reports of a fire close to a garage sighted by a member of the public. Crews found this to be a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person.

Time:  20:40      Location: Seamer Road, Scarborough

Scarborough crew responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. One resident had reported the sight of smoke. However after a full inspection, no fire was located and advice was given to all occupants.

Time:   20:49     Location: Raincliffe Woods, Scarborough

Crews from Scarborough and Filey responded to a vehicle that had driven into a tree. Most occupants were out prior to fire crews arrival and being assessed by paramedics.  However, one casualty was being prepared for extrication from the vehicle but self extricated after a medical assessment. Crews provided scene safety and used lighting equipment. The incident was left in the hands of paramedics and police.

Time:  22:33      Location: A59, Bolton Abbey

Skipton responded to reports of smoke coming from a vehicle. After a thermal inspection was completed using a thermal imaging camera, no signs of fire were evident. Crews provided scene safety while the vehicle owner waited for recovery.

Time:  01:36      Location: Scalby Road, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough were requested by police to gain entry to a property for ambulance crews who wished to help the occupant inside. Ambulance had already gained entry prior to fire crews arrival and no action was required.

Time:   02:57     Location: North Leas Avenue, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough were requested by police to gain entry for ambulance crews to a residential property. However ambulance crews had gained entry prior to fire crews arrival by the occupant once they responded. No further fire service action was required.

Time: 06:20       Location: Station Road, Topcliffe

Crews from Thirsk and Ripon responded to a report from police of a lorry carrying livestock which had overturned with the driver stuck in the cab. Crews released the driver through the sunroof of the cab using crew power. This incident is still on-going at the time of publication.

 

Crews from Malton, Scarborough (x2) and York responded to activated fire alarms inside commercial and Residential buildings. After inspection, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
