Incident Summary – Night Shift, Thursday 19th February

Time: 18.11   Location: Grange Garth, York

Acomb appliance and Acomb’s aerial ladder platform responded to reports of a chimney fire, on arrival crews confirmed a fire in the external flue, crews used small tools to extinguish.

Time: 19.34   Location: Leeman Park, York

Acomb crew responded to a bin fire containing household waste, crews used knapsack sprayer and fire buckets to extinguish. Cause believed deliberate.

Time: 20.47   Location: A63

Selby crews responded to reports of a car on fire, on arrival there was no fire but was a single vehicle road traffic collision, crews made the vehicle safe and used slings to get it back on the road ready to be recovered.

Time: 22.10   Location: North Marine Road, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of a strong fuel smell coming from a building, on arrival this was found to be a false alarm, advice was given to the responsible person present.

Time: 00.38    Location: Eggborough

Crews from Selby responded to a wheelie bin on fire, crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish. Cause believed deliberate, police also attended this incident.

Time:  03.51  Location:  Main Street, Ebberston

Crew from Pickering responded to a report of a chimney fire to a property.  The fire was out upon arrival of crews.  Crews carried out a full thermal scan of the property and gave advice to the homeowner.

Crews from York, Scarborough, Richmond and Harrogate also attended reports of automatic fire alarm activations. After inspection these were found to be false alarms.
