Incident Summary – Night shift 28th February
Time: 17.19 Location: Alexa Court, York
A Crew from Acomb responded to a report of an aerial that had come loose from a house and was hanging dangerously from the building. Crews used 9 metre ladder and fall arrest system to remove the aerial to a safe place.
Time: 18.24 Location: Long Street, Thirsk
Northallerton crew responded to a report of a fire that had been left unattended. Crews extinguished the fire and dampened down the area. Advice was given to the responsible person who returned whilst crews were on scene.
Time: 18.29 Location: Castlegate, Knaresborough
Crews from Knaresborough and Harrogate responded to a report of a burning smell and overheating of a fuse box on the exterior of the property. Crews extinguished the fire using a dry powder fire extinguisher and awaited the arrival of the Electricity Board to isolate the electricity and replace the fuse box.
Time: 18.51 Location: Bridge Street, Helmsley
Crews from Malton and Easingwold responded to a report of flames coming from a chimney. The fire in the hearth was extinguished prior to Fire Service arrival. Crews used roof ladder, 9 metre ladder, Hearth Kit, TIC and working at height kit to extinguish the fire from the top of the chimney.

A crew from York responded to a fire to a wheelie bin that was believed to have been started by youths. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and the incident was reported to the Police.

Crews from York and Acomb attended a residential property due to the fire alarm sounding and the fuse box sparking. There was no fire on arrival of crews, electrics were isolated and advice given to occupier.
Time: 02.35 Location: Riverslea, Stokesley
The Crew from Stokesley responded to a report of a person who had fallen and couldn’t get up. Crews used crew power to lift the person back into bed and left them with a family member.
Crews from Harrogate (x2), Richmond, Malton and Ripon also attended automatic fire alarm activations. After thorough inspection these were found to be false alarms.
