Incident Summary – Thursday 2nd April – Day Shift
09:51 – Flowergate, Whitby
Crews from Whitby, Scarborough, Lythe and Loftus were mobilised to a fire at a commercial property. Crews used four breathing apparatus, one positive pressure ventilation fan, two hose reel jets and two thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire and ventilate the property. The ground floor of the building suffered 20% fire damage, the entire building suffered 100% smoke damage. There were no reports of any injuries.
10:33 – A169, Sleights
Crews from Kirbymoorside and Stokesley attended an incident involving a bus that was smoking from the two front wheels. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for any fire and this was found to be a false alarm due to the vehicle overheating.
11:12 – Hungate Court, Hunmanby
Crews from Malton and Bridlington responded to an incident involving an automatic fire alarm sounding in a residential property. This was found to be a false alarm due to the alarm being tested.
13:04 – Scalby Road, Newby
Crews from Scarborough and Filey were mobilised to a residential fire. The small fire was out on arrival of crews, they assisted with an inspection and clean up of the property.
13:40 – Runswick Avenue, Whitby
Whitby’s crew were requested by ambulance to assist with gaining entry to a property with a casualty inside. Crews used small tools to gain access and left the incident with paramedics.
14:25 – Springfield Drive, Boroughbridge
Ripon’s crew were mobilised to assist ambulance with gaining entry to a residential property with a casualty within. Crews used small tools and a lock snapper to gain entry and the incident was left with paramedics.
14:37 – Coggan Close, York
York’s appliance attended a residential building with a fire alarm sounding. This was found to be a false alarm.
16:17 – Beningbrough Drive, Harrogate
Crews from Harrogate attended an incident involving a person that had fallen outside their property, crews assisted with lifting them into their property using crew power only.
16:22 – Castle Bolton
A crew from Leyburn were mobilised to an incident involving a fire that had been spotted in the open. After investigating, this was found to be a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.
