Incident Summary – Friday Nightshift, 20th February 2026
Time: 18:53 Location: Colburn Lane, Colburn
Crews Colburn and an assisting appliance from Darlington responded to smoke coming from a smoke alarm inside a domestic property. Crews found no signs of fire on arrival. However, after inspection crews found water affecting the smoke alarm which caused a small amount of heat damage. Crews isolated the electrics and gave advice to the occupants.
Time: 20:27 Location: Pickering Road, West Ayton
A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of a van smoking from its engine compartment. Crews found no smoke coming from the vehicle on their arrival. A thermal imagining camera was used to confirm no hotspots were present and advice was given to the owner who arranged the recovery of their vehicle.
Time: 00:47 Location: Long Street, Thirsk
Thirsk mobilised to assist paramedics with the difficult extrication of a patient from inside their property to the awaiting road ambulance outside. Crew power used to assist with extrication and patient transported to hospital by paramedics.
Crews from York (x3), Acomb, Knaresborough and Scarborough (x2) responded to activated fire alarms inside commercial and residential properties. After inspection, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
