Incident Summary – Thursday 1st October 2026 – Night Shift
Time: 19.40 Location: Oakbank, Harrogate
A crew from Grassington responded to a car on fire outside a residential property. Crews used 2 Breathing Apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire and Fire investigation and Police responded due to the suspicious cause of the fire.
Time: 19.51 Location: York Road, Thirsk
A crew from Northallerton responded to reports of a fire near the road. This was found to be a false alarm due to controlled burning with responsible person present. Advice was given.
Time: 20.40 Location: Rydal Avenue, York
Crews from Acomb and York responded to a report of a fire alarm sounding and a smell of smoke in a property. This was found to be caused by water leaking from the bath in the room above and through the detector. Crews disconnected mains powered smoke alarms and replaced with battery operated ones and gave advice to the occupants.

A crew from Skipton were mobilised to a report of a fire in a woodland area. Crews located the fire, and confirmed it to be a control burn under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person.

A crew from Ripon responded to assist paramedics extricate a casualty from a property. Crews safely assisted move the casualty into the ambulance and left them in the care of paramedics.

Knaresborough crew responded to a vehicle fire. On arrival the vehicle was well alight, crews used one breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Police attended to assist with traffic management.

A crew from Acomb responded to reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a building. Police had already cordoned off the area on fire service arrival, nobody was in the vehicle. Fire crews inspected only and gave advice, the incident was then left with the police.

A crew from York responded to a request to gain access to a premises for Ambulance crews due to concerns for the occupant. Crews gained entry to the property through a bathroom window using a triple extension ladder and found the occupant inside unharmed. Occupant left in the hands of Ambulance.

A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of a fire alarm sounding intermittently. On arrival this was a false alarm due to a fault on the system. Advice given to contact electrician and no fire service action required.
Time: 05.58 Location: New Street, York
A crew from York responded to a report of a person who had become locked behind some pin coded shutter doors after they failed to re-open while they were in the process of making deliveries. On crew arrival the person self extricated via an alternative route and no Fire Service action was required.
