The Firefighters Pension Scheme members (FPS) 2024 Annual Benefit Statement- March 2025 Update
Usually, we send Annual Benefit Statements (ABS) out by 31 August each year, but unfortunately your 2024 ABS will be delayed if you are affected by Sargeant (Age Discrimination) Remedy. For 2024 onwards, all ABS’ must show your ‘rolled back’ position of the benefits you built up in your legacy scheme, which does unfortunately cause some complexities as additional data and software is required to produce these calculations.
The production of the statements has been delayed because WYPF’s administration system has needed significant reprogramming to comply with the legislative changes. Due to unforeseen technical difficulties with this upgrade, it has not been possible to produce the annual and remediable statements by the deadline of 31 March 2025.
The revised relevant date by which you can expect to be in receipt of your RSS is 30/06/2025.

What if I’m planning to retire soon?
NYFRS will make sure you receive an accurate calculation of your benefits and your Remedy options in your retirement pack. This is unaffected by the delay to statements.
Can I still get a retirement estimate?
You can request an estimate of your pension benefits built up if you are planning to retire within 12 months from the date the estimate is requested, we are unable to provide one beyond this timeframe.

Please notify the payroll and pensions team on payroll@northyorksfire.gov.uk who will submit the form and relevant paperwork to West Yorkshire Pension Fund administrators.
What should I do now?
You do not need to do anything now. NYFRS/WYPF will produce your ABS as soon as we can.

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) 2024 Annual Benefit Statement September 2024 Update
Annual Benefit Statements (ABS) for active and deferred members are now available on My Pension Online (in Member Documents). The statement shows the value of your pension benefits as at 31 March 2024 for active members and at 8 April 2024 for deferred members.

Don’t forget to use My Pension Online to update your personal details, check your Annual Benefit Statement and do your own quotes.
What if I’m planning to retire soon?
You can take your LGPS pension at any time from age 55 to 75, as long as you have met the two-year vesting period. The Government has announced the earliest age that you can take your pension will increase from age 55 to 57 from 6 April 2028.
Can I still get a retirement estimate?
If you haven’t done so already, why not register for My Pension Online where you can calculate your own pension benefits at any time and as often as you like.

What should I do now?
Please check your personal information is up to date. This information includes your marital status, current address details and your employer at 31 March. Don’t forget to tell the pension fund about any changes! You can do this by logging in to your online account on https://nypf.org.uk/my-pension-online/. You can find all our forms on the Forms and guides page. It’s important to check the pay information in your statement, as this affects how NYPF work out you pension benefits. Contact your NYFRS if you have any queries about the pay used.
