North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service proud to receive award for supporting the Armed Forces community
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (NYFRS) is pleased to announce that it’s received the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award for 2026.
The Silver Award acknowledges employers who have demonstrated a clear and proactive commitment to supporting reservists, veterans, and military families, while aligning their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
NYFRS is proud to support colleagues with Armed Forces connections. This announcement comes ahead of Armed Forces Day on Saturday 27 June.
Achieving the Silver Award represents a key milestone in NYFRS’s journey, with an aim to progress to Gold status.
The Service will continue to:
- Strengthen workforce policies and support structures
- Developing partnerships across the Defence community
- Increasing advocacy and visibility of Armed Forces support
- Supporting staff who volunteer with cadet and Armed Forces organisations
Chief Fire Officer Jonathan Dyson said:
“I am extremely proud that North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has achieved the ERS Silver Award. This recognition reflects the dedication of our staff and our continued commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.
We value the unique skills and experience that service personnel and veterans bring and we are committed to ensuring they are supported in balancing their roles within the Service and their wider commitments.
